The majority of immigrants that are living in the United States today are of Mexican descent.  Most of these Mexican Immigrants live in extreme poverty.  One of the main reasons why Mexicans are so discriminated against is due to all of the illegal migration that takes place with them.  Many Americans do not support this and there for are against the Mexican Americans.  One common belief that many Anti-Mexican Americans share is that the immigrants coming across the border are taking American Jobs away.  Whether or not this is true, it is one of the lead fueling factors for Hispanic discrimination.  Many Hispanic's, especially in the south such as in Texas or California, are immediately classified as illegal immigrants.  However, this is often not actually the case.  Although there are large numbers of illegal immigrants in these regions, there are also large numbers of American-born Hispanics that are just as much citizens of the US as Caucasians.

Hispanic Discrimination in the workplace

As the population grows in the US, so does the number of Hispanic immigrants coming over.  Hispanics are starting to become a part of mainstream society.  Recently, The National Survey of Latinos, done in Washington D.C. revealed that of the 3000 Hispanics interviewed, %31 had faced job discrimination in the past.  Many have either been denied promotions, or even denied jobs all together.  The majority of the people polled felt as if they were as if not more qualified than the person who ended up receiving the job, and that they were denied solely due to their race.  Because it has been made so hard for hispanic immigrants to receive good work now days, they are forced to live in poverty.
